Cars!

South Africa seems to have a love affair with classic cars!
I have always loved these golden oldies, and had a chance to really drool on a visit a few years ago to the Anton Rupert car museum. (which just happens to be on the same site as his lovely vineyard, so double bonus!) There are cars from the beginning of car-dom right up to the recent past. I was in heaven.
But as well as finding them in museums, you see them all the time on the roads, and I’m starting to collect images of some of the ones we see while we’re out and about.
Our first was a beautiful little Ford Anglia. It was being pushed into the petrol station because, as her owner told me, when it’s running empty and goes uphill, the fuel drops back to and doesn’t reach the engine. Brilliant!
The guy who owned her was a total sweetheart, telling me that everywhere he stops he makes new friends because of this car! Everyone is curious and wants to know more!
Another we saw on the road was a Ford Mustang. Again, in mint condition and clearly loved.
The last for now is an old Hudson. This time, in far from mint condition, but lovely anyway, parked in front of a little hidden away café. The only reason we found the café was that we went to look at the car!
I’ll keep adding as I find. Hope the blurring isn’t too distracting but I’d be hacked off if I randomly appeared online, so have applied it to people and number plates.
